New construction of eight buildings to support adults with autism and developmental disabilities
Lauring Construction, a third-generation general contracting and construction management firm, announced today it has been selected by Amego Inc to construct eight new buildings in a campus setting at 724 Washington Street in Franklin, Mass. Construction will be completed by fall of 2021.
Amego is committed to supporting people living with autism and other developmental disabilities at home, school, work, and as members of their families and communities. Founded in 1971 by the Sangree Stokes family, Amego continues to serve its very first student and the first adult diagnosed with autism to receive state funding in Massachusetts.
Amego acquired the site in 2018 and Lauring will construct six 3,200 SF seven-bedroom houses to support 42 adults, a 2,500 SF community center, and an 850 SF maintenance building. Campus amenities will include a basketball court, playground, and walking path. Site improvements include creating a road off Washington Street, utilities, and an onsite septic system.
“We have worked with Lauring Construction for over two years and their team approach to managing projects has always impressed us. When it came time to build a new residential campus, we knew Lauring was the best choice,” said John Randall, CEO at Amego. “Our devoted team of professionals works hard every day to provide a safe, positive, and enjoyable learning environment for our clients, while maintaining a solid support system for our individuals’ families and our growing number of staff members as well.
